DESIGN QUESTION
How can we rethink the museum as an expansive, dynamic and mobile space? A museum which can explore its temporality and flexibility with space and time?
DESIGN INTENTION
With the primary motive of mobility the design aims to expand the knowledge about the history of Nallasopara. Starting from different schools in Nallasopara, the mobile museum shifts from one school to another by locating itself into open spaces of the respective schools. Various mediums and methods such as audio visual, workshop and exhibition are included to assist the learning. Through the display of history and collective working the museum can also act as an urban move to bring the communities of Nallasopara together.
SITE ANALYSIS
Comparing the open spaces of different schools
SCHOOL 1:This school had a small one storey rectangular building. It had an open ground also rectangular in shape and covered by trees on one of its side
SCHOOL 2: This school had two multi-storied buildings that formed an L-shaped enclosure between them
SCHOOL 3 : This is an international school with a 6 storied building and a big ground which is paved. The school ground also includes a swimming pool and is covered by trees on two sides.
PROGRAM
Mobile/Temporary museum
The primary module of the design is a hexagonal unit. The hexagonal units are deployed to be assembled with respect to different site conditions
The museum has the following programs:
1. A History exhibit area
2. An audio visual corner where through the help of video kiosks children will learn about different history-related stories.
3. A workshop where students will be encouraged to make different arts and crafts related to its history.
The museum also tries to aid the schools with less infrastructure by providing them with classrooms. These classrooms can be made available by utilizing the workshop space
